In the middle of the year 2021, Microsoft is coming up with a new version that requires no continuous charges for its services. This is going to be a flat-price version and the news was given in a blog post in September. The release of the new version will be for both Windows and Mac which is going to be a masterstroke in the business perspective to expand its market. Office 365 has already transformed into Microsoft 365 in April this year which offers several tools like PowerPoint, Excel, and word. After the change from office to Microsoft, there was no change in the subscription prices. This requires a subscription fee of $7 for a month and the family pack with a limit of up to six users requires $10. There is limited functionality in this version which is free to use online but to get a full feature subscription or perpetual version is mandatory.

About the release of the new version of Microsoft, there is no detailed information declared by the company itself, but the perceptual release is forthcoming for sure. This is expected that one-time payment will be there to use the full functionality of Microsoft and the subscription process will be replaced but as of now, there is no confirmation.

As there is the transformation of office 365, most of the users of Microsoft were in fear that they will be forcefully pushed towards using Microsoft 365, and office 2019 will be the last perpetual version. They used to give updates of the perpetual versions every year, but this was imagined that the company will not release any other updates in the future. The news of releasing office 2021 has relieved the tension of users and this is also going to be a pre-purchase product like the 2019 version with similar kinds of offerings. By buying for once the user will get the license to use its service for a lifetime. For corporate use and various multinational companies, the concept of purchasing for using its products fits for Microsoft 365 version but for single users or the students this kind of subscription plan is not suitable. Paying every month or every year to get a service of different tools does not suit a huge percentage of the customer base of Microsoft. The upcoming version will surely satisfy those users and several upgradations are expected of the existing perpetual version of office 2019.
